The Nevernight Chronicle Typography

Custom lettering developed exclusively for Jay Kristoff’s internationally bestselling trilogy. The project included the title lettering, interior section and chapter titles, and bonus content. Inspiration for the original sketches came from the ornate, fluid lines of Venetian masks and classic gothic type styling. As the project developed, the lettering transitioned to a more contemporary serifed style with fluid, grandiose flourishes giving the ethereal feeling of smoke and mist juxtaposed with exaggeratedly sharp, delicate points to convey a sense of concealed danger.
